I knew this would happen. Still I let it. Before Christmas I had a bounty of job offers. Some were really good. There was one  running a bar in the west end for brilliant money. But I am a silly boy sometimes and it didn’t quite tick my boxes.

It is now mid February and I can’t find employment. The pre Christmas offers have vanished along with the fairy lights. Perhaps I’m being too fussy but it’s now starting to get to me.

I job seeking was a job itself, I’d had in my notice.

I had a job interview the other day. The interview consisted of a series of questions around “core valued behaviours.” Yes it was as crap as it sounds. Essentially they interviewer expects specific examples of your behaviour in situations revolving around their core values. For example I was asked to provide an example of when I have experienced change in the workplace, how I dealt with that change and if that change cause any problems, how did I overcome those problems.

I agree: bullshit.

Anyway I have had an interview of this sort before so, knowing roughly what to expect, I conjured up seven or eight stories that would cover the majority of questions I was likely to be asked. I felt the interview went pretty well. My preparation got me through a few dodgy moments but generally I answered well, was pretty charming and even cracked a few jokes.

Towards the end of the interview I felt pretty pleased with myself until I was told that if I was successful the position might not start until as late as May.

Could they not have told me this sooner? What use is that to me? I had to go through this rather uncomfortable forty minutes for the slim chance of getting a job, which I’m not even that excited about, and they’re telling me that it might not even start till May.

I agree: bullshit.

So unemployment continues. I have another interview next week helping run a new bar that’s opening. It’s not open till the end of March which is not much use to me either but the bar is over four floors a has a hot tub which folk can hire for hot tub parties.

Hot Tub Parties.

Wet girls getting drunk; that’s definitely a perk to the job.
