| My pet pigeon |

There’s a pigeon that visits my back garden. He’s being visiting for years. I always know when spring is arriving when he appears. He sits on a hedge which runs along the length of a wall in the back garden. He’ll sit at the end closest the house and peck at all the tiny berries that are starting to blossom. When he’s had his fill he’ll fly off only to return the next day and sit slightly farther up the hedge. Again he’ll peck away all day eating his fill of berries until there is a pigeon sized circle of berry-less hedge. I’m not sure if the hedge gets several blossoms of berries over the summer. I’m guessing it must do as it feeds this pigeon for months. What amuses me most is that the pigeon is so methodical. It starts at one end and slowly works its way to the other end which takes several weeks. By the end of the summer it is rather a fat pigeon and struggles to take flight. I notice the difference today as it has probably not had as much to eat over winter but the berries must be little balls of fat as the bird gets huge. Flea even caught it once it’s so slow. I call him Hedgepig.
