In the land of green there lived an unhappy bunny.
Who suffered a problem which was by no means funny.

This young ladies name was Annie Annetta,
And she was mocked and jeered by all that met her.

For in a world of green she was truly an exception,
As her bright blue skin brought her unwanted attention.

She heard jokes and cat-calls, whistles and growls,
And felt sideways glances with menacing scowls.

An outcast in her world she ran from her home,
But could never escape that constant green tone.

‘What’s wrong with being blue?’ she cried as she ran.
‘Why can’t I be green?’ she asked an old man.

‘Leave me alone!’ the man squealed as she neared.
Why was it that Annie was so horribly feared?

Was she really so different because she was blue?
It was very unfair but what could she do?

On she ran never stopping for breath,
Until exhausted she fell at the edges of death.

Tears fell from her eyes and all she could see,
Was a blurry green world of which she’d never be free.

‘I can’t go on, please take me away.
To a world of blue or even silver or grey.’

But still she remained in her prison of green.
A place so cruel, wicked and mean.

Suddenly a voice came to Annie’s blue ears.
She looked up in surprise and wiped away her tears.

‘Hello young lady. Why are you so down?’
Annie’s brow furrowed in a deep puzzled frown.

Never had she seen such a beautiful sight:
An arch of eight colours so vibrant and bright.

‘What are you?’ she asked. ‘You’re not green like the rest.’
‘I’m a rainbow of course; multicoloured is best!’

‘But the world laughs at me because I am blue.
Aren’t you scared they will laugh at you too?’

‘No,’ said the rainbow, ‘I’m proud to be me.
I live in the sky so everyone can see.

Why don’t you join me and we can have fun?
And add more colour to this dreary green glum.’

Happy at last Annie rose up in the air.
Proud to be blue she no longer cared.

Across the heavens she spread colouring the sky.
‘Such a wonderful sight!’ all the greenies would cry.

So Annie Annetta had coloured the green land
And she and the rainbow flew off hand in hand.

To bring colour to a world that was boringly green
The bright blue sky with a rainbow in between.
